Why QCAS Approval Matters
Hub Care Support only introduces QCAS-approved Personal Assistants. This means that before a Personal Assistant can be introduced through Hub, they must complete an approval process covering important checks, standards and professional conduct.
What does QCAS approval mean?
QCAS approval means that a Personal Assistant has completed an approval process designed to check important areas such as identity, background, suitability and professional conduct.
This includes checks such as:
- identity verification
- Conviction free enhanced DBS checks on the live service
- 2 references
- Training in 20 Skills for Care recommended subjects
- Public Liability Insurance
- agreement to follow the QCAS Code of Conduct
- ongoing approval requirements
QCAS approval does not mean that any organisation can guarantee how a person will act in every situation. However, it does mean that important checks have been carried out before Hub introduces that Personal Assistant to people looking for support.
How to check QCAS approval
You can check a Personal Assistants approval status 24/7 by scanning the QR code on their ID badge
Why this matters for families
When arranging support, families often worry about:
- who will be coming into the home
- whether the person has been checked
- whether they understand professional boundaries
- whether they are suitable for the role
- whether there is a standard they are expected to follow
QCAS approval helps address these concerns by providing a structured approval process before a Personal Assistant can be introduced through Hub.
This gives families a stronger starting point when choosing support.
Choice
One of the main benefits of using Hub is that you choose the Personal Assistant you feel most comfortable with.
Continuity
Unlike some traditional care arrangements, where different staff may attend at different times, many people using Hub value the opportunity to build support around a Personal Assistant they know, trust and get on well with.
Confidence
QCAS approval supports this by helping ensure that the Personal Assistants available through Hub have already met important approval requirements before they are introduced.
Who is QCAS?
The Quality Care Approval Scheme (QCAS) is a community interest company that has been set up for the benefit of the community.
Personal Assistants (Independent Carers) are not regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), however, they can often provide the same type of support so the aim of QCAS is to set the standards for all independent Personal Assistants.
The unique approval scheme is underpinned by a code of conduct that reflects the values and high expectations of individuals that work in care.
Their Aim
Enable communities and councils to access the Personal Assistant workforce with confidence.
