What do most people think about when they reach their mid/late 60s? Holidays, retirement, spending time with family?……

Well, in 2012, 64 year old Marrilyn Green decided it was time to turn her passion for helping others into a business. Her vision was to provide the care sector with an alternative way to safely access care. Not only did she embark on this journey at the age of 64 she had also been living with Parkinson’s disease since 2006.

Her mission was to enable those seeking home support to have much greater choice and control over who delivered their care and to make care more affordable. She also wanted to recognise carers for their professionalism, hard work and dedication and to empower them to become their own boss, earn what they so rightfully deserved and have a much better work life balance. Based on these vision and values, Hub Care Support was born!

The Hub model which Marrilyn created revolutionised how people access care and support and at the same time supported carers to become independent Personal Assistants allowing them to have full control over their own career.

Having worked within social care and local authorities since 1999, Marrilyn recognised how important it is to be able to choose the person who visits them, to ensure consistency, flexibility and the ability to build a good rapport with their carer and to see the same familiar face everyday. Quality assurance was also one of the fundamental cornerstones of the service and Marrilyn ensured that all Hub Personal Assistants are approved under the Quality Care Approval scheme.

Knowing that finding support can feel daunting, she wanted to make sure that every enquiry was dealt with personally, ensuring that those looking for care felt supported throughout the process; and she did this by building an office team who are compassionate, knowledgeable and who will happily guide those seeking support every step of the way so they never feel alone or daunted.

The Dream Lives On

Hub Care Support branches can now be found across the UK so Marrilyn can be proud that her vision will live on and continue to bring light to the lives of thousands of people everyday.

After many years of giving to everyone around her, its time for Marrilyn will take some valued time for herself.
